Every time I want to minimize or maximize the window, I need to move the mouse to the top left corner and click the minimize button or maximize button. Are there any keyboard shortcuts to minimize or maximize a window in macOS? I referred to What keyboard shortcuts move, resize, and maximize windows under Mac OS X?. It answers how to maximize the window, but it doesn't answer how to minimize it, so it only solves one of my two questions.

Keyboard Shortcut for full-screen:

Hold Command (Cmd) and Control (Ctrl) then press F

There is no default shortcut for maximizing (Zoom menu title), but you can add one.

+ M is the default for the Minimize menu title (you can adjust this the same way as the maximize, described above).

The free Rectangle app can handle Maximize and various other screen splitting settings, but not minimize.

Using macOS 15.2 Sequoia here.

The menu item window->fill, defaults to ⌃F (Ctrl+Fn+f), should do what you want.

The item window->center ⌃C (Ctrl+Fn+c) restores the original size and centers the window.

Menu item window->minimize ⌘M (Cmd+m) minimizes the window.

To remove the spacing around the "filled" window, you have to disable the option "Tiles have spacing" in Systemsettings -> "Desktop and Dock".

Fn+F does the job! It will maximize and minimize to a full-screen application.

According to https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mchlp2469/mac:

Maximize a window: Double-click the application's title bar to maximize the window (there doesn't appear to be a keyboard shortcut).

Minimize a window: Press Command-M.

Coming from Windows I found the lack of window management keyboard shortcuts really frustrating in MacOS. However the (free and open source) third-party Rectangle app is fantastic for this. This makes it easy to snap windows to various parts of your screen, between monitors etc. in customizable ways.

See: https://rectangleapp.com/

Can install with Homebrew using: brew install --cask rectangle

I have tried the answers from here and they haven't worked for me. I like to stick to the keyboard as much as I can and minimize mouse usage. The closest I can get to this is using Spotlight Search via ⌘ + Space (Command–Space bar) then typing the name of the application. I hope this helps you or anyone else reading!
