It annoys me that when I type in the omnibar for Brave or Chrome, that among my suggested automatic completions are catfish results that upon selection change my tab.
Is there any way, such as by flags or extension, to prevent these appearing?

In vivaldi you can go to Settings -> Address Bar -> Drop down. There is a list of features to enable in the address bar drop down. From this list deselect Open Tab.

The same goes for Vivaldi. This feature from hell came to me with the latest update. Maybe it was there from beginning and something triggered a change in settings. I cannot tell.
Fix below.
