Which type of hardware is the most efficient for mining Monero?
I'm not looking for any specific product recommendation, but I'm just curious in terms of type of hardware which has been proven as the most efficient in terms of mining Monero.
Is it GPU, CPU, ASIC, or is there anything else?

Approximate cost of developing Cryptonight ASICs
I have already seen reasons why Cryptonight is more resistant to ASICs as compared to SHA256 for example:
Cryptonight takes advantage of the AES-NI instruction set available on most modern machines
Cryptonight limits parallelizing hashes due to…

At what stage is the Monero mining race at right now?
It does beg the question, what hardware would has the best cost/benefit ratio right now? Are low end GPUs best to mine with, or are racks of cheap power efficient CPU motherboards the flavour right now.
Where does mining stand right now WRT…

What exactly has been changed in PoW algorithms in the v7 fork?
I have read the official announcement about the current PoW change and also seen the discussion on GitHub but this is very long and very technical. Could someone summarise what exactly has been changed in comparison to the original CryptoNight…

What was the difference in hashrate power when the March 2018 anti-ASIC Hardfork occurred?
What was the percentage drop in hashrate during the 2018 march anti-ASIC hardfork before and after the fork?
Finding this number, can we estimate how many ASIC's were produced?
This is assuming this drop was all due to ASICs, but I'm sure many…

How do "Time Locked Proof of Non-ASIC work challenge reward" algorithms work to deter ASIC production?
I just read the proposal for "Time Locked Proof of Non-ASIC work challenge reward"
https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/86zb03/the_end_of_all_asic_miners_moneros_new/
I still don't understand how does it work exactly to deter ASIC production.…

What is so different about RandomX from other attempted ASIC-resistant mining algorithms?
I read that the original Cryptonight hashing algorithm was optimized for the L3 cache of a modern CPU, giving CPUs as large of an edge as possible. I've also heard that RandomX effectively turns a modern day CPU into the most effective mining tool -…

Would having two separate proof of work algorithms for Monero be more secure?
Say 50% is CryptoNight and 50% is an ASIC friendly PoW, would this create more security? Maybe current miners would leave, creating less security? This might be an idea that would be better for the far future once Monero starts tail emission maybe?

What are the main advantages / disadvantages between proposed RandomX to ProgPoW?
Ethereum developers recently decided to fork off Ethash ASICs like Monero did before. However, Monero changes its CryptoNight mining algorithm only slightly every six months until a more robust alternative is ready, mainly RandomX is being discussed…

Is avoiding significant advantage by an specific hardware an active goal of the Monero developers?
Given that significant advantages in a specific hardware leave out a lot of people that don't posses that specific hardware and leads to mining centralization, is there an active effort to improve the mining algorithm used in Monero to avoid this…

Which ASIC manufacturer (if any) made ASICs for XMR in the past?
I checked out the medium post by MoneroCrusher over at medium.com which indicates that at one point in time, ASICs were most likely operating on the monero network.
Has anyone figured out who was behind it?

Who created the Monero ASICs during 2019-Jan to 2019-Mar?
Do we know who exactly created these ASICs during the big hash run up during 2019-Jan to 2019-Mar?
And why would they create these ASICs when they know for a fact that the Monero community would easily fork the algorithm to brick all of their…

Is Monero really decentralized, if the dev team can easily change the POW algorithm to fight off ASICs so easily?
With the recent ASICs on the scene as of 2019-Jan, someone managed to create ASICs again for monero and they're able to attain over 50%+ of the network. The monero core devs scheduled a fork only a month after noticing this. But from my…
